HOW TO ADD 'DEPTH' TO YOUR MAKEUP

In the tube, Topshop's 'Depth' looks jet black and it can be a little terrifying. But on the lips it is a gorgeous burgundy purple colour and really adds something special to your whole makeup look in the colder season. When it comes to the rest of your makeup, the key words here are 'subtle' and 'neutral'. To pull off a colour like 'Depth' during the day, you need to leave your face and eyes really simple.

Avoid blush
When you have a bold, fairly colourful lip, you don't want a lot of colour going on on your skin. Avoid wearing blush and if you want to add anything else, only go for a little bit of bronzer.

Keep your skin looking flawless
When you wear a bold lip, especially if it has reddy tones in it, it can draw attention to any redness. Use a medium to heavy coverage foundation and cover up any dark circles with a good concealer. (I, like most, love the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer)

Go for a neutral eye
At this time of year, I tend to go a bit mad on smokey, fancy eye makeup but when I wear a dark lip, I like to go for something a little more subtle and neutral. I tend to just do a wash of one colour - I quite often go for a shimmery gold or copper colour. (For a really long lasting look, try the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in On And On Bronze) Or I also like to just go for a subtle, thin wing eyeliner.

'Depth' is an amazing colour and the formula is amazing as well. It's super moisturising and acts as a kind of stain, meaning it lasts really well throughout the day.

Let me know how you do your make up when you wear a bold lip in the comments. And also tell me your thoughts on 'Depth'.

  2. I adore these kinds of colours. Like you I keep the rest of the face neutral to make it wearable and less OTT dramatic.
