DIY: DINOSAUR KEY RINGS

I'm sure you've seen these on Pinterest, but I thought I'd show you how I make them. These are really easy to make and are great if you have old kids toy animals hanging around (if not, Ebay is fab). I chose to go with brass hardware to go with the gold liquid gilding, but you can use whatever you like. If you're not into the fake metallic look, you can go for colour paint instead. Pastels and neons look great! I did a dark pink one to go with the gold which worked well, but on reflection, a primer coat (of white paint or plastic primer) would have really made the colour pop.

YOU WILL NEED:
PLASTIC DINOSAURS - LIQUID GILDING - SCREW EYES - SPLIT RINGS - VARNISH (OPTIONAL)

1. Clean and dry your plastic animals and lay them on scrap paper/cardboard (outside if using spray paint).

2. Spray your animals with thin coats of paint. Apply 1 or 2 more coats leaving to dry in between each coat.

3. Once dry, you can apply a coat of varnish/sealant to make them last longer. Then screw in your screw eyes - this can be a little bit fiddly but I promise you that it's possible. If you're struggling grab some pliers.

4. Twist a split ring onto each of your screw eyes and you're done! All that's left to do is attach them to your keys.

You can get these little plastic animals in all sorts of varieties, so don't feel restricted to dinosaurs!

Simple right? As always - good luck, have fun and don't forget to email/tweet me pictures if you recreate this DIY yourself, I'd love to see them!
