HOW TO DECLUTTER YOUR MAKEUP STASH

When you have a love for makeup as strong as I assume you, a beauty blog reader, has, things can get a little out of hand in your makeup storage, (I speak from experience). So here is my guide to help you declutter your makeup stash.

Step 1. Start by taking every piece of makeup you own and putting it all in a pile on the floor. When you can see everything in one place, it's easier to control the amount that you keep. Also, having to put everything back in your storage will help with this as well as it's easier to throw things away.

Step 2. Put everything into piles of your different types of makeup (ie. foundations, concealers, lipsticks, mascaras, etc).

Step 3. Be ready to make 4 piles from these piles: 'put into everyday makeup storage', 'put into stash storage', 'donate to family and friends', and 'throw away'.

Step 4. Throw away anything that is out of date - use this guide to help you.

Step 5. Separate any makeup that doesn't suit your complexion and decide whether you're going to donate it to family/friends or throw it away. (NB this step will leave you with lipstick swatches all the way up your arm).

Step 6. Separate all of the makeup you never use, or haven't used in months, and figure out why you don't use it. If it's because you don't like it, add it to the throw away/donate piles. If you just forgot about it, decide whether you want it on your everyday pile or your stash pile.

Step 7. Select the makeup that you want to use everyday. This might be your current favourites, or it might be the products you've  found that you want to use up.

Step 8. Take some wipes and clean up your makeup packaging, and also your storage.

Step 9. Put everything back in it's storage, and you're done!

Let me know if you're going to declutter your makeup stash, or if you have any more tips, in the comments below. Good luck!
